Emily Llewellyn Eventing update

With the event season drawing to a close, I wanted to provide you with a brief update with news and events from our daughter Emily!

Emily has had some brilliant results this season, and is really lucky to have a really exciting team of young horses to compete. Some highlights include a 1st and 2nd in the CIC* at Brightling Horse Trials in July on the Mayfly Syndicate’s ‘Exclusive’ and Millie Harries’ Emerati Nightsky, followed by 1st and 3rd with the same horses in the CIC* at Firle Horse Trials in August. Both horses competed in the very competitive six-year-old Championship at Osberton last week – with both performing well, and Emerati Nightsky finishing 11th with a lovely double clear.

In addition, Worldy du Hans (Wallie) owned Keith Lovelock competed his first CIC3* at Saumur back in June.  His dressage is improving so much – Wallie was working in so beautifully and was really relaxed, but as he moved into the main arena he became a little bit tense with the big atmosphere, and unfortunately didn’t achieve the high marks that we had all had hoped for. However, we were still delighted with 52 Dressage. Wallie’s Cross country was incredible – This is a new level for him, with some difficult questions of a big table, then three long strides to a very wide and angled corner, three skinny hedges all off set, two waters, the first one causing several eliminations and retirements. He showjumped so well on Sunday with just four faults to finish a fantastic 9th in a world-class field. We were all so thrilled and he is a really exciting horse for the future.

In September, Emily was thrilled to ride at Burghley CCI4* again on our lovely horse Greenlawn Sky High who we co-own with Nicolette Gidley-Wright. Although his dressage is much improved, he unfortunately got got a big cheeky at the end of the test. A brilliant clear cross-country and rolling just one pole in the showjumping meant Emily and Barney finished in a very credible 18th place. A brilliant result to finish his season on!

Emily is thrilled to have the ride on a new exciting young stallion ‘For Vehlage’. Emily has started eventing him this year, and he has been in the top eight all season at BE 100 level. Definitely one to watch for next year.

Emily will now be focussing on Aldon Horse Trials at the end of this month – where she is campaigning Emerati Nighsky and Exclusive in the CCI*. Watch this space for updates!
